Hi Everyone
The weather seems to have reverted to standard British fare, so perfect for swimming! The lake has been getting almost too warm, even without a wetsuit, so with every cloud comes a silver lining I guess. It should be dry for most of the weekend so I hope that everyone can make the most of the longest training days of the year. There are still spaces on Sunday’s club ride and a couple of swim slots at the lake tomorrow morning.
With the solstice come a couple of special events: the summer solstice swim at Queenford Lake is full but why not join Club members at nearby Dorchester Sailing Club on Tuesday evening instead? It’s great to have this additional OW swim session going to complement all of our other current summer training. Thanks so much to Team Merrett for organising and taking on the brunt of the safety rota. Note there’s no yoga this week as Rebecca is away so no excuses!
Secondly after swimming at Kidlington this evening I will join Club fellow members Philippa and Simon to do some night time cycling up and down Aston hill as they attempt around 20 hours of continuous cycling to ‘Everest’ aka complete the elevation of Mt Everest in a single ride. Good luck both!
As we approach the mid point in the year as I flagged last week the Committee have set up a member survey. I promise it will take only a couple of minutes to fill in and will provide the Committee with invaluable insights into your satisfaction with the way in which we are going about things at the moment, the Club’s relative strengths and weaknesses, how we can become even better despite all of the restrictions and frustrations of the past 18 months, and how we can maximise any opportunities post Covid. Please fill complete it here.
With the cap on 30 people attending any social event still in place we are unable to hold our long-delayed in person sausages and beer session (any coaches reading this far down the newsletter please translate that as nutrition and hydration masterclass!) but rest assured we are looking to hold this as soon as it’s possible to fix a firm date.
Finally, welcome to our one new member this week!
Any questions, as ever just ping me.
Happy training!
