Hello OxfordTri Family!
I hope that this finds you all well and that you are looking forward to a sunny looking weekend. I just wanted to take this opportunity to welcome a number of members who have joined the club over the past month. We are so delighted that you have joined our little Oxford Tri community and please do make yourself known to any coaches leading sessions or members who look like they’ve been part of the club for a little while. I’ll let them decide if that is a compliment or not!
On a personal level it was so great to be at our Coached Thursday Night Run session at Horspath Track which was excellently led by Darren. With numbers having rocketed over the past month or so Thursday night at the track very much seems like the place to be at the moment.
With this in mind just a little reminder that as a club we monitor the attendance of every session which we run. It was noted during our committee meeting on Monday that some of these have seen a lesser attendances than normal, in particular Radley Coached Swim on the Wednesday night. As a committee we have to consider the viability of these sessions and their cost effectivenss along with the wider impact that this has on the club. With this being said, on Monday as a committee we have decided to end our Saturday morning swims at Queenford. I’m sure that you will agree that we have been incredibly blessed with the weather this year at the lake sessions and that we are very much looking forward to them coming around again next year.
That’s all from me, I hope you have a great weekend.
God Bless
Craig
Member of the Month – September
We are delighted to share that Septembers Member of the Month is Hannah Slater. She has been a regular in our conversations this year with regards to Members of the Month. Not only has she been a regular at many training sessions over the past two years but she has also improved significantly across all disciplines which has resulted in a podium place at The Roc Wales earlier in the year and then also more recently last month she finished 9th in her age-group at her first ever European Championships Age Group Event over in Belgium. Then followed this up with a top 10 finish for female athletes overall at Weymouth 70.3 which was turned into a Bike-Run due to the apocalyptic weather.
Sadly this week is her last week (for now) as part of the club. She moves into a new exciting role but sadly for us, further away. Hannah thanks so much for making Oxford Tri your home over the past couple of years. I know I speak for us all when I say that you will be missed. We wish you all the best in the future and look forward to seeing you continuing to smashing it.

This a notice to all that our Annual General Meeting will take place on the 19th of October at Oxrad starting at 7pm. There will be pizza provided for all that attend with also the possibility of a trip to the near by Victoria Arms afterwards.
Our Coached Running session at Horspath Track will be postponed in order to allow as many members to attend.
So we can ensure enough enough pizza for all please do sign up HERE if you are planning on attending. It’s also important to say that this is your club and your opportunity to have a say on what the future looks like so please do consider making it a priority if possible, we would love to see as many of our Oxford Tri family there as possible.
This next week we will be sending out the descriptions of the committee roles and proposed changes to our constitution. Please do consider if you could spare a few hours a month to help support the club by serving on committee or even perhaps in a way in which we might not even have considered.
Oxford Tri goes Cross Country
As some of you may have seen and heard we are fast approaching Cross Country season. As always as a club we will be competing in the Oxfordshire Cross Country League which runs on the first Sunday of every month November through March. It is often the highlight of the year for many club members both on a competitive level and also a social one.
Each race day we will often travel as a team so don’t worry if you don’t have a car etc lifts will be available to the race venue, where we will then run around in the mud for about 7km before finishing with homemade cake or on the odd occasion a pub lunch. The first race of the year is on the 5th of November.
In order to join in with the muddy fun you need to sign up firstly for an English Athletics Membership which is £17 if you don’t already have one. Then your entry for the league which is £20 for the five races which is fantastic value for money. Please see below the two links for signing up and if you do have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to Kelly who is our amazing Cross-Country Coordinator via EA@oxfordtri.co.uk
