Member of the Month – Cicely Arthur

Those who were are the social on Wednesday night got first dibs on this one as we shared that Augusts Member of the Month is Cicely Arthur. Cicely has been part of the club for a couple of years and is always an incredibly energetic and warm individual, often in excellent wacky themed socks. Last month she took on IM Kalmar where she overcame visa issues and forgetting her wetsuit to set a new PB by almost an hour. Cicely thanks so much for being an awesome member of our club. Here’s to many more adventures!

OxfordTri – Big Tri-out

We are excited to share details of our first ever OxfordTri Big Tri-out!

This event is a Social Triathlon which is taking place in conjunction with our last lake swim of the year at Queenford Lake on the 28th of September.

The concept of the event is that across the morning and early afternoon club members will have the opportunity to take on all or some of the three triathlon disciplines (Swim, Bike, Run). For those who do manage to complete all three there will be a finishers medal.

It is important to note that this is not a race, more an opportunity to enjoy the sport we love with fellow club members.

Finally, the distance is up to you. The laps of the courses for the bike and run and speed that you complete each of them are completely up to you.

Below are some of the key details of the day, for those who sign up there will be a more in-depth briefing sent the week of the event. More info including the courses can be found at our website using the following link – https://www.oxfordtri.uk/oxfordtri-big-tri-out/

Oxford 1/2 Marathon Volunteering

As mentioned after a large number of our OxfordTri family volunteered incredibly successfully at Blenheim Palace Triathlon earlier in the year we are continuing to work with Motiv Sport the organiser for both Blenheim Palace Triathlon and the Oxford 1/2. Since working with Motive Sport they have helped to advertise our Open Water Swims May which brought over £4k into the club, given us over 16 free spaces for Blenheim Palace Triathlon this past year and fully covered the costs of our recent first aid course for coaches.

We are delighted to announce that we have agreed the following rewards package for OxfordTri members who volunteer at Oxford 1/2 or/and Blenheim Palace Triathlon (The club will also benefit based on the number of volunteers);

  • Volunteer at Oxford 1/2 – 50% Off Sprint Tri @ Blenheim / 0.5 Token for free entry to Sprint Tri @ Blenheim
  • Volunteer @ Blenheim Saturday AM or PM Only – 50% Off Sprint Tri @ Blenheim / 0.5 Token for free entry to Sprint Tri @ Blenheim
  • Volunteer @ Blenheim Saturday ALL Day – 1 Token = free entry to Sprint Tri @ Blenheim

Next month we have been invited to take over one of the aid stations on the Oxford 1/2 Marathon route. We are just finalising the details for the event which is on the 13th of October with timings of roughly 7am till 11am. Last year a number of members volunteered and had a great time, this year we are excited to hopefully get even more people involved.
