Hi Everyone
Now well into February – well done to anyone who managed to do dry January without any cheating!
The days are definitely getting longer and it almost felt like spring at times when I was out riding this afternoon. But with a ‘feels like’ temperature of minus seven tomorrow definitely it’s a day for turbo training and perhaps a short base run. It’s still not too late to sign up to the club zoom for your Sunday morning turbo/ zwift session.
Also really great to have another Club quiz evening tomorrow, thanks again to our socials organisers for all their work keeping us entertained and connected.
We did have a committee meeting last Monday (first Monday of the month). There are a couple of points for wider circulation at this point. Firstly in terms of thanking our NHS heroes we are planning on a series of fundraising efforts (with the emphasis on FUN) which the Club will match financially (up to £1,000) and the proceeds going to the Oxford Hospitals Charity – an excellent cause which in particular supports NHS staff in Oxford (for example mental health support and fruit baskets and pizzas for particularly busy shifts). Look out for more information in the coming weeks. This will be in addition to our ongoing support for Oxsrad. Secondly we heard from Club members they want more in terms of some more options and variety in training. The virtual rides, zoom meet ups, yoga and S&C are all so popular currently but with other options currently very limited we know you want more! In order to assess how best to deliver this I have set up a quick survey (30 seconds, I promise!) to help us work out what best to aim to provide. The committee are all keen to provide sessions which meet demand but the coaching team need you the members to indicate where we should best focus our resources.
Thanks again everyone for you support – now well over 100 members and so we can really look forward to a successful 2021.
