Race report – back to Blenheim!
Last August I ve asked to defer my entry due to pregnancy, and then they moved it back to May. In early January I ve asked to downgrade to supersprint, and hoped for the best – just 4 months after Owen’s birth.Last wave on Saturday, start delayed by an hour (heard several versions of why, lack of medical cover was consensual). When we finally got on that pontoon, my heart was racing! Swim was short and sweet, transition slow as expected, bike, here I come! Fell off twice due to non-existent unclipping skills when chain came off. Just slowed me down a bit for the first time, I felt strong on the run! Slow and steady, one foot in front of the other, just like in the C25K training I ve been doing for the last 8 weeks. And then the finish line at last!! And that smile on Owen’s face It’s good to be back Zara Hannoun shaved 4min off her PB and Sean Elias was a bit slower this year – he blames reduced training due to parenthood
