Happy New Year and Hello Oxford Tri Family
I hope that you have all had a great Christmas and New Year with family, friends or even in your own company. I don’t know about you, but having eaten approximately my own weight in sweets, mince pies and mini sausage rolls in the past fortnight I’m ready to get back into training, especially with my first outing of the year coming at the Cross-Country race coming up this Sunday at Horspath.
This email is a little out of sync but with lots happening this week I wanted to make sure that everyone was in the loop.
Firstly, due to the size of our club I’m sure that there will be some reading this email who have never met or even heard of me so strap in for a whirlwind introduction. I joined the club in the Autumn of 2019 having moved down to Oxford to participate in a graduate scheme working within a local prison. My regular sessions have been Abingdon Swim on a Monday Night and Thursday Runs at Horspath, along with taking part in the Cross-Country each year. I was introduced to Triathlon whilst studying the University of Stirling in 2014 as a complete novice and have been involved ever since. I regularly coach as part of the club and during. the summer at youth camps run by Christians in Sports. Fingers crossed in a couple of weeks I will have achieved my level 2 coaching qualification as supported by the club (This was before I was even on committee). I’ve held committee roles previously within the university club and was responsible for the development of student triathlon across Scotland for a number of years through Scottish Student Sport.
Phew.. I think we made it.
We are meeting as a committee next Monday and some of this time will be spend reviewing the way that we do things as a club. With this in mind if you had anything that you wanted to share about your experience as part of the Oxford Tri family good or bad, please do get in touch with me directly at chair@oxfordtri.co.uk
Just a few addition things to be aware of below. All of our regular sessions are back to normal.

Sunday 8th January 2023
?♀️ Oxford Tri XC ?
Horspath Track – 11am till 1pm
A reminder that some of our amazing club family are going to be racing this weekend on our very own doorstep. Why not plan a little run or cycle over to Horspath to give the guys and girls some support.
KIT SALE AND SIZING SESSION
Oxsrad – After the XC approx 1pm (before lunch at the Victoria arms)
Our new race kit is provided by NoPinz and our training kit by Akuma.
On Sunday at the kit sale, we will also have female and male pro-1 road suit / Tri suits in all sizes available to try on for size. This is so you can then purchase direct from the online club shop and delivered to your door (https://nopinz.com/product…/club-nopinz/oxford-tri-club/ )
Additionally, we will have ALL of the Akuma club kit there for a sizing session. This means every item in the club shop will be at Oxsrad, in all sizes male and female, (not in our club colours) so we can try for size and get a feel. Then you can order online yourself!
We will only run two sizing sessions of this scale TWICE a year! however, you can order kit any time from either supplier yourself, with no minimum quantities required.
If you’re after new kit for the 2023 season, it’s advised you make the effort to attend so you can order the correct sized kit with plenty of time (typical lead times vary from 3-8 weeks depending on which item is ordered and when).
Any issues please us know via the kit email address on the website.
?Post XC Social Lunch?
The Victoria Arms – After the XC/Kit Sale and Sizing
Let’s get together and celebrate not just a new year but the efforts of all those who have been brave enough to go running in the mud. Whether you’ve raced or not it would be amazing to spend time together as we share in food as club family (Plus 1s, 2s, 3s Welcome). Please let me know if you’d like to join us by 5pm on Friday via email at chair@oxfordtri.co.uk
God Bless
