Hi Everyone,
As you’ll all have heard, it’s not lock down exactly but a higher level of alert and some stronger advice around wearing masks and vaccine certification. Whilst nothing has changed very much for our Club sessions, please do remember that some venues are going to be quite strict now on mask wearing indoors, so please be courteous and patient and stick to the advice. Given the numbers and the direction of travel it would be common sense to take a bit more care whilst exercising personal responsibility depending on your own situation. As before please keep taking regular free lateral flow tests and don’t leave home for training sessions if you have any symptoms.
There are quite a few pool issues in Oxford currently as Fusion de-carbonise their centres and Barton’s heating system is broken … the result of being unable to book as many swim lanes as we’d have liked is that we are probably unlikely to spend any of the surplus we accumulated in 2020. But rest assured that money isn’t going to be wasted and we continue to look at further investment in Club coaches’ training and will try to better meet demand for in person sessions, together with more of what worked well in lock downs, like strength and conditioning sessions on Zoom.
Coming up before Christmas we also have a virtual Christmas Quiz on Sunday 19th December with our very own quizmaster Craig setting a variety of surreal and topical triathlon and non-triathlon questions – an excellent way to socialise with Club members and get into the Christmas spirit. Thanks again to Katie for organising!
This Sunday the weather is looking mild and favourable for riding, we have two rides going out – thanks to Nick T and Alex for offering to lead. For those who prefer some company for their indoor training the popular Sunday morning Zoom meet up is starting again this Sunday. So no excuses for not smashing out a PB bike split come race season next year …
Finally a quick heads up that the final virtual TT of the year is taking place on 22nd December; some friendly competition with our neighbours at Swindon and Leighton Buzzard tri clubs.
Any questions, as ever just ping me.
